Luxury Arts and Crafts across cultures historically owed their beauty to the skill and artistry of their makers, and the materials they were made of. This lecture series focuses on the Hidden Histories of the Metals and Minerals that were mined, smelted, and processed to make the raw materials of great works of art.

Referencing objects from museums' collections, and a wide range of fascinating documentary sources from the East and the West dating from Antiquity, the Middle Ages, and the Renaissance, this series offers a rich tapestry of information, delving into history, folklore, trade, industry, art and symbolism.
